Psi Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc. serves as the sole member, and volunteer force to the BPF. Examples of programs that BPF volunteers have been involved in since its inception include the following:
Volunteering
  • Volunteering at the Charles Yancey Annual Book Drive with Prince Hall to provide books for children.
  • Volunteering at The Benjamin Healthcare Center to provide support for senior citizens.
Sponsorship
  • Co-sponsoring a fund-raiser for the Sickle Cell Anemia foundation in conjuction with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
  • Co-sponsorship of Child Identification Programs (CHIP) – Promoting Family Safety Awareness within the Black Community
  • Co-sponsoring a one day conference for women of color to encourage entrepreneurship by providing a forum for a panel of business leaders to share their business acumen and leadership skills for aspiring business owners.
  • Co-sponsoring a Christmas in the City event where gifts and food were given to underprivileged children.
 Donations
  • Donating birthday party supplies to www.birdthdaywishes.org.
  • Providing food for women and children at Rosie’s place, a shelter for women and children.
 Scholarships
  • Scholarships awarded annually.
